Summer
Summer is peak season. Utah's Bear Lake State Park runs the Garden City Marina, Rendezvous Beach (generally open May 1 to late October), and the Eastside beaches. Idaho's North Beach often reaches capacity, so reserve a parking day pass ahead of time. The lake's gradual slope makes for a big shallow swimming area.
Raspberry season
The local raspberry harvest usually starts around the third week of July and lasts 3–4 weeks. Garden City celebrates with Raspberry Days each August, with a parade, festival, concerts, and the Laketown Rodeo.
Fall
After Labor Day, crowds thin out. Rendezvous Beach generally closes in late October, while the Marina, First Point, and Cisco Beach launch areas stay open year-round. Logan Canyon's drive in fall color is a highlight.
Winter
Winter is quiet and snowy. Beaver Mountain ski area is about 13 miles from Garden City. The Bonneville cisco, found nowhere else on earth, spawns in winter, and Utah rules allow dipnetting with a handheld net (opening 18 inches or smaller). For owners, winter means planning for snow removal, heating, and road access.
Spring
Spring brings the thaw and preparations for the season ahead. It's also when Garden City accepts new short-term rental applications (January 1–April 30), which is useful timing for investors.
